SVP for Defenders
August 25–26, 2026
Live Webinar 3:30 – 4:45 pm each day
Join CPDA for a two-day SVP webinar, for all practitioners. Tuesday is an overview of representing people in SVP proceedings, appropriate for any trial attorney and those newer to SVP practice as well as a good refresher for others. Wednesday will go deeper into effective litigation and advocacy for our clients by explaining what the STATIC-99R is and how to score it. All Dept. of State Hospitals evaluators are required to use the instrument and it is often included in probation reports in criminal court. The presentation will also explain what dynamic risk factors are, how they’re assessed, and why they’re important throughout the duration of an SVP case. Attendees will learn about the tools most frequently used to assess dynamic risk factors and how to effectively attack them in court. Registration covers both days. If you are unable to attend the classes at the set time, they will be recorded and available for registrants upon the end of the sessions.
Both Days
